Handyman Michael Butler (32) tidies up the Virginia creeper covering Callow Hall Hotel, a 19th century mansion near Ashbourne on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District, ahead of the first day of autumn on Thursday. <br />

It’s the most colourful display ever, helped by the late Indian Summer warmth of early September, according to Cara Ferguson, deputy manager of the hall, which is a popular spot for country weddings.<br />
