After a chilly night in the Peak District, low cloud blankets the stunning Derbyshire countryside as the sun rises over Curbar Edge this morning ahead of a forecast week of late summer hot weather.
This type of weather phenomena is known as an inversion and can occur when, for example, a warmer, less-dense air mass moves over a cooler, denser air mass. This type of inversion occurs in the vicinity of warm fronts.
