Saloon 45000, as it may have looked in 1944, when Churchill and Eisenhower used the railway carriage, as a base to plan and monitor the D Day Landings from. The carriage is now based at The Midland Railway, Butterley, Derbyshire, but in June 1944 it was hidden in a railway cutting near Droxford in Hampshire to hide it from German aircraft. The carriage, which has a kitchen, office, lounge and two bedrooms remained in service for many decades and was often used by the Royal Family.<br />
